UPDATE: Report: Possible scale-up of US sanctions not to hit Russia – min

ST. PETERSBURG, Jun 1 (PRIME) -- A possible toughening of the U.S. sanctions is not important to Russia, the domestic situation is of more significance, Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin told Bloomberg TV on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday.

“This is not too important. We are concentrating on what is happening in our economy, on structural changes in the economy. Because what happens inside Russia is of more importance to us than what is on the outside,” Oreshkin said.

Oreshkin told PRIME that new sanctions discussed by the G7 can have only a slight impact on the Russian economy. “They can affect (the economy) only slightly now because what we achieved over the last two to three years – we are relying only on our own abilities, we can get by without foreign financing and can live with no external sources.”
